Cedar Mountain Formation: Deinonychus and Sauropelta.Combining the DNA of a Stegosaurus and Triceratops, its name means 'roof-horned face'. The Stegoceratops large, spiked frills and thick back spikes easily thwart the awesome chomp of a hungry Tyrannosaurus Rex or Allosaurus. It had a short hooked horn on its nose, no horns above its eyes, and a short neck frill, with a crown-like appearance formed by forward-curving hornlets. It is significant as the first known ceratopsid found outside of North America. There is some discussion as to whether Dracorex and the very similar Stygimoloch are actually earlier growth stages for the Pachycephalosaurus. The only species in the genus is 'Dracorex hogwartsia', named after the Harry Potter books by J.K. It's name means 'Dragon King' because of the crown like bony forms on its dragon like skull. The lack of unique traits in its holotype suggest that it might not be a distinct genus.ĭracorex was a pachycephlosaur that once lived in North America. Crichtonsaurus are a type of ankylosaurid dinosaur name after the author Michael Crichton.
